book cover for the penguin contest.
This is a tumblelog, kinda like a blog but with short-form, mixed-media posts with stuff I like. Scroll down a bit to start reading, or a bit more to read more about me.

LICHTENSTEIN.
In Tate Modern
A central figure of American pop art. Roy Lichtenstain (1923-1997)
His paintings were an instant sensation, provoking both delight and outrage.
Such a big variety of work impressed and inspired me. I enjoyed his late paintings the most (Nude and Chinese Landscapes). The amount of work he made through his life was just unbelievable
Nude(image). Unlike many artists, he didn’t use live models for his depictions of the female body; instead he returned to his archive of comic clippings to select female characters as subjects- and than literally undressed them, by imagining their bare bodies under their clothes before painting them nude.

Hey everyone,
So this is my last week in Czech Republic, and i wanted kind of to put a dot here, and to write everything that happened since my last post.
Talking about my work in czechdesign, we organized another exhibition called Gallerie meets the Graphics

and few other events in our gallerie such as Design Menu (i was doing printing materials) After this event, Heineken offeres their sponsorship to our company, which was really nice.

All Christmas cards are ready, and I think it is good time to leave and start looking for the new adventures around the world.

In between my working days I was trying to make my live as exciting as it could be, I was doing some freelancing, making business cards and logos

I also knitted 4 scarfs, and i think I can start making them for sale=)
Moreover, traveling is my bigest source of inspiration so during this last few month i have been not only to London, back home(Ukraine) and Czech, but I have visited Thiland with it’s amazing culture and breathtaking views

After all I have been in Germany(Stuttgart) as well, where I enjoyed very much.

In conclusion, would like to say, that this 3 month were full of creativity, inspiration and joy. All the negative moments were buried under the mask of happiness.
Now i started to read books for the penguin awards and have few personal project ideas on my mind. So hopefully next year going to be as productive as this one.
So…
After my first internship i had a vacation at the Tenerife. After, i came home for few weeks, thank London, than through Germany to Prague.
Now i am doing a 3 month internship in czech republik. In the place called Czechdesign, which is a nonprofit organisation which provides an information about design, designers and everything what is related to it. They are trying to introduce Czech design abroad yeah…and doing a lot of other nice things.

Recently we were organizing an exhibition. which was a lot of fun.
Usually I help with general design tasks needed inside the company.
Moreover we were organizing a big exhibition which gonna be in Austria and Germany. I was helping with booklet.

The only dissapointment for me is that I am working 2 days a week. And i have too much of free time. So in between the working days I am trying to explore Prague. I really want to start some personal project, while I have some free time, but nothing ever comes to my mind, when i really need it.

Moreover in between my working days I decided to go to Itally for few days, and unexpectedly I loved it, so i might consider looking for a placement there later on…like in spring or something…

Well…I am quite bored here to be honest.
Probably that’s all i wanted to share so far.
have fun.
Karyna.
I was so excited to start a dps year that i started it in May. It was quite hard to be a full time student and a full time intern, but it was the best 3 month i had in england so far.
I had 2 successful interviews to Alexander McQueen and Tateossian. After long hours of thinking and struggling i decided to start…
…at Tateossian. It is a jewelry company which is specialized in cufflinks. I was a graphic design intern there. It has a small office in Imperial Warf and around 60shops around the world. Every hour i spent there was absolutely amazing. I started with photo editing, because it was time for the Pitti in Florence, and all jewelry was suppose to be photographed/edited and added to the stylebook. After a while i was doing most of photography and editing. As the time was going by i started working on the stylebooks for the companies which we were producing cufflinks for such as Canali, Eton and few others.

I had a great experience in photoshop and indesign. Moreover I was a photographer on events in Tateossian shops in London. My last month i spent doing more interesting projects, i was doing cards for the shops for the sub-brand Thompson :

Later i started doing most of the photos for their web page.

My final piece of work was posters for the shops. I was really proud to see something i was working on in the window display in Conduit str or Westfields (London) for example.

So I think I learned a lot during my first internship. I spent an amazing time with nice people, doing great job.
I really hope that the hole year gonna be as exciting as this placement. x

Have been in the bauhaus exhibition quite a while ago. Never had a chance to write about it.
Brightly colored walls, strong graphics, sharp forms is exactly what i like and what inspires me.
Founded in 1919, the Bauhaus was conceived around the revolutionary idea that the different creative disciplines might be directed towards a common purpose: the creation of a total work of art.
The typeface used throught the exhibition, FF Bau (designed by Christian Schwartz and commissioned by Erik Spiekermann)
There were more than 400 wonderful works, the show features a rich array of painting, sculpture, ceramics, textiles, photography, furniture, graphics, product design, theatre, architecture and film by such Bauhaus masters as Josef Albers, Herbert Bayer, Marianne Brandt, Marcel Breuer, Walter Gropius, Johannes Itten,Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee, Hannes Meyer, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, László Moholy-Nagy, Oscar Schlemmer and Gunta Stölzl.
